April Wine – Walking Through Fire (1985) on the platter, and that’s one of those albums that doesn’t get nearly enough love. It was their last studio release before they split up for a while, and while it’s not as celebrated as Nature of the Beast or Harder… Faster, it’s got some solid cuts worth revisiting—especially if you’re into that mid-80s polished hard rock vibe. |
A couple fun bits of trivia you might like for a post:
- This album was recorded with a different lineup—basically Myles Goodwyn carrying the flag with studio musicians.
- Tracks like “Love Has Remembered Me” and “Shot Down” still bring that April Wine mix of melody + muscle, but with a slicker, more AOR-radio polish.
- It didn’t chart big in the U.S., but in Canada it cemented April Wine’s reputation as one of the hardest-working bands of their era.
- Many collectors consider it a “transition” record—closing the classic April Wine chapter before their 1990s comeback.
